Adela was born about 1062.  Adela's father was King William I “the Conqueror” Plantagenet, of England and her mother was Matilda of Flanders.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert I of Normandy, 6th Duc de Normandie and Arlette (Herleve) Falaise; her maternal grandparents were Baldwin V ("the Pious") of Flanders and Princess Adele of France. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Richard, Rufus, Henry, Adeliza, Cecilia, Agatha and Constance.  She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  She died on March 8th, 1137 in Marcigny-sur-Loire, France.  She was buried in Abbey of the Holy Trinity, Caen, Normandy, France.
