Sadie was born about 1864.  Sadie's father was David Marion Lyon and her mother was Sarah C. Shaffer.  Her paternal grandparents were William Lyon and Elizabeth Tweedy. She had four brothers and three sisters, named George, Algernon, Selina, William, Margret, Mary and Lucie.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.
