Peter Smith Ambrose 
Peter was born on September 27th, 1844 in Morgan County, Virginia.1 Peter's father was Nicholas T. Ambrose and his mother was Elizabeth Ann "Bethany" O'Brien. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Ambrose and Sophia Marquart. He had six brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Mathias, Jacob, William, George, Mary, Anna and F.. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 64 on October 24th, 1908 in Morgan County, West Virginia.1 General Notes
He was known as "Black Pete", identifying him among several Peter Ambroses in the area, because he was very handsome and of dark complexion.
