Reuben was born on February 19th, 1876 in Neath, Glamorgan, Wales.  Reuben's father was Richard Keagle and his mother was Caroline Smith. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George, Richard, Albert, Jessie, Ann, Ellen, Charlotte and Edith.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 93 in December 1969.
