Edward was born in 1577 and his christening took place on February 2nd, 1577 in Wivelscombe, Somersetshire, England.  Edward's father was Robert Bennett and his mother was Elizabeth Edney.  His paternal grandparents were John Bennett and Margery. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named John, John, Johan, Robert, William, Richard, Christopher, Thomas, Margery, Elizabeth, Agnes, Dorothy and Eleanor.  He was the second youngest of the fourteen children.
