Jesse was born on May 30th, 1853 in Morgan County, West Virginia.1  Jesse's father was Peter V. Ambrose and his mother was Mary Ann Harlan.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Ambrose and Anna Nancy Rizer. He had four brothers named Aaron, George, E. and Jeremiah.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had six half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Charles, Elmira, Samuel, William, Levi, Harry, Anna, Mollie, Lillie, Eva and Amanda.  He died at the age of 61 on May 1st, 1915.  He was buried in Paw Paw, Morgan County, West Virginia.2 2
