William was born in 1875.1   William's father was Peter V. Ambrose and his mother was Mariah Alice Whisner.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Ambrose and Anna Nancy Rizer. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Charles, Elmira, Samuel, Levi, Harry, Anna, Mollie, Lillie, Eva and Amanda.  He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He had five half-brothers named Jesse, Aaron, George, E. and Jeremiah.  He died at the age of 78 in 1953.1
